Carnaby Phinisi
3 days, 2 nights: a private boat for your group
Updated 26 October 2026
The 3D2N Komodo private boat route published for Carnaby 1 runs day 1 Kelor, Manjarite and Kalong; day 2 Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Taka Makassar and Manta Point; day 3 Sebayur and Kanawa. Whole boat from IDR 70,000,000 (≈ USD 4,294) or IDR 118,000,000 (≈ USD 7,239), per boat.
Run of show: three days for a group of 14 or 21
Below is the 3D2N from Carnaby 1. We give clock times only where they're known; otherwise it's morning, midday or dusk.
- Day 1: pickup and lunch on board, the Kelor hill walk, snorkelling at Manjarite, then Kalong at dusk for the bats and the toast.
- Day 2: the Padar ridge walk, a swim and snorkel at Pink Beach, the ranger walk on Komodo Island, the Taka Makassar sandbar and a drift snorkel at Manta Point.
- Day 3: a swim and snorkel at Sebayur and Kanawa, then back at Labuan Bajo; the return time is confirmed in writing.
With 14 or 21 guests, Padar is the stop that needs planning. The path to the main viewpoint takes about 25 to 45 minutes, and a big group soon splits into two waves, so save the group photo for the top, once everyone has caught up. Where the boat spends the night depends on the weather and the captain's decision that day. Stops and their order can change with traffic, weather and tides; the captain decides on the day. Only the pickup has a fixed time; every other time in the plan moves with the day.

Where the toast goes: Kalong at dusk, Padar on day 2
Kalong is day 1 on both boats. Sunset there falls between 17:49 and 18:27 through the year, and the flying foxes leave about 15 minutes later. You watch from the boat, so the toast happens on deck.
Padar is where the boats part ways. Carnaby 1's open-trip route opens day 2 with sunrise at the top; sunrise at Padar is 05:31 in November and 06:18 in July, and the walk starts about 65 minutes before it. Carnaby 2's published route puts Padar at sunset on day 2. On either boat, the hour of the Padar walk is agreed before you pay.
Carnaby 2's own published route: Bidadari to Sebayur
Carnaby 2 has one set route, a 3D2N, and it isn't Carnaby 1's.
- Day 1: Bidadari Island as an optional stop, Manjarite, Kelor and Kalong at sunset.
- Day 2: the Rinca ranger walk, Mawan Island or Manta Point depending on current and weather, Long Pink Beach, and Padar at sunset.
- Day 3: Sebayur, then back to Labuan Bajo.
The real difference is that Carnaby 2 goes to Rinca where Carnaby 1 goes to Komodo Island, and only Carnaby 1's list has Taka Makassar and Kanawa. Both routes carry the same line: stops can change with traffic, weather and tides.

Trimming a day, adding a day
Three days gives a birthday or an anniversary room to breathe. Day 1 ends at Kalong. Day 2 is the long one, packed with stops, and day 3 is an easy morning of snorkelling before you head back.
Drop a day and the 2D1N loses Manta Point, Sebayur and Kanawa. Add one and the 4D3N brings in Rinca, Gili Lawa Darat, Siaba Besar and Mawan. On Carnaby 1, for 1 to 6 guests, the whole boat is IDR 63,000,000 (≈ USD 3,865), IDR 70,000,000 (≈ USD 4,294) and IDR 85,000,000 (≈ USD 5,215) for the three lengths.
The 2D1N page and the 4D3N page set out each route in full.
Who pays for what on the 3D2N
Included in the fare: the boat and its crew, harbour transfer, meals, coffee, tea and water, snacks and fruit, towels, life jackets and snorkelling gear.
Paid by you: Komodo National Park tickets and ranger fees, flights, a hotel, insurance, crew gratuities and alcohol.
On request, quoted separately: the guide and the photo and video documentation on a private charter, decoration, a cake and a photographer. Each boat's full list is on what a private charter includes.
FAQ
How many days do you need in Komodo?
Three days cover the classic list: Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Taka Makassar, Manta Point, Sebayur and Kanawa. Two days cover the core; four add the farther stops. Carnaby 1 for 1 to 6 guests is IDR 63,000,000 (≈ USD 3,865), IDR 70,000,000 (≈ USD 4,294) or IDR 85,000,000 (≈ USD 5,215).
Is a 3-day trip enough for a celebration?
Yes. You get the toast at Kalong on day 1, the Padar walk and most of the swims on day 2, and a slow morning on day 3. A birthday for ten or more fits the 3D2N well, though a reunion that wants time to talk is better on the 4D3N.
Which day is the Komodo dragon walk?
Day 2 on Carnaby 1's published route, at Komodo Island with a ranger, after Padar and Pink Beach. On Carnaby 2's published route the dragon walk is at Rinca, also on day 2.
Can we change the order of the stops?
Before you pay, yes. On the day the captain decides. The Taka Makassar sandbar shows only at low tide and Manta Point depends on the current, so those two swap places more than the rest.
What does the 3D2N cost for 14 friends?
On Carnaby 1, 14 friends pay IDR 75,000,000 (≈ USD 4,601) for the whole boat, IDR 5,360,000 (≈ USD 329) each. Carnaby 2 would charge IDR 129,000,000 (≈ USD 7,914) for the same 14, IDR 9,210,000 (≈ USD 565) each, with more cabins and four balcony cabins.
