The stops on a celebration route from Labuan Bajo

Updated 26 October 2026

Ten stops make up Carnaby 1's published 3D2N: Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Taka Makassar, Manta Point, Sebayur and Kanawa. Kelor and Kalong fall on day 1, Padar to Manta Point on day 2. The captain decides the order on the day.

Stops of a celebration route, day by day

Carnaby 1's published 3D2N runs like this. Day 1: Kelor for the short climb, Manjarite for a first snorkel, and Kalong at sunset. Day 2: Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island with a ranger, Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Day 3: Sebayur and Kanawa, then the harbour.

Nine of these stops have a page of their own, listed in the grid below; Manjarite is named inside the Kelor entry, because the two share the first afternoon. The 2D1N keeps day 1 and the Padar to Taka Makassar half of day 2, and the 4D3N adds Rinca, Gili Lawa Darat, Siaba Besar and Mawan.

The 2D1N, the 3D2N and the 4D3N show each route in full.

Which stop suits which moment

A celebration is a list of moments, and each stop carries one. The toast belongs to Kalong, where the bats leave about 15 minutes after sunset. The group photo belongs to Padar and, at low tide, to the sandbar at Taka Makassar.

The swim belongs to Pink Beach and Kanawa, where the water is shallow and the reef sits close to shore. The walk belongs to Komodo Island, with a ranger, and to Kelor, a short climb with a view of the bay. Manta Point is the drift snorkel for confident swimmers.

None of this is a promise about weather or wildlife. It is the order in which the moments fall on the route.

Stops the captain swaps on the day

Stops and their order can change with traffic, weather and tides; the captain decides on the day. The usual swap is between Manta Point and Taka Makassar, because the sandbar shows only at low tide and the manta sightings follow the current.

A change is announced on board and confirmed with you, never decided silently. If the park closes a stop, the walk moves to Rinca. Plan the toast and the group photo with a second option in mind.

Stops only the longer routes reach

Five more names appear on the longer or the other routes. Rinca is the dragon trek on Carnaby 2's published 3D2N and on Carnaby 1's 4D3N. Gili Lawa Darat appears only on the 4D3N. Siaba Besar and Mawan Island are also 4D3N stops; Mawan or Manta Point is Carnaby 2's day 2 snorkel. Bidadari is an optional first stop on Carnaby 2's day 1.

These stops have no page here. Carnaby 2's published route is a 3D2N only: for its 2D1N and 4D3N the stops are agreed with you in writing before you pay.

FAQ

How many stops are on a 3D2N?

Carnaby 1's published 3D2N lists 10 stops: three on day 1, five on day 2 and two on day 3. Carnaby 2's published 3D2N lists nine, one of them optional. The captain can change the order with traffic, weather and tides, so treat the sequence as a plan and not as a timetable.

Which stop is a dragon stop?

Komodo Island is the dragon stop on Carnaby 1's published routes, and Rinca is the dragon stop on Carnaby 2's published 3D2N and on Carnaby 1's 4D3N. Both are ranger walks, and most walks see dragons and the park cannot promise a sighting; nobody walks the trails without a park ranger.

Are the stops different on Carnaby 2?

Yes. Carnaby 2's published 3D2N has Rinca instead of Komodo Island, Padar at sunset on day 2, and no Taka Makassar or Kanawa. Its 2D1N and 4D3N stops are agreed with you before you pay.
