Carnaby Phinisi
Sebayur Island as a quiet stop
Updated 26 October 2026
Sebayur is the larger of the Sebayur islands near Flores, a snorkel and beach stop of 45 to 90 minutes, about 1.5 to 2 hours by boat from Labuan Bajo. It is on day 3 of the published 3D2N on both Carnaby boats. It is outside the dragon trekking area.
A beach and a reef, away from the dragon area
Sebayur is not inside the dragon trekking area, so there are no rangers and no walk. It is a beach and a reef, nothing more. That is the point of the stop: after a day of climbs and a ranger walk, the group has nothing to do but swim.
It is the larger of the Sebayur islands, near Flores, with beaches and nearby reefs. The snorkel takes 45 to 90 minutes in depths of 2 to 10 m with a mild current. Reaching it takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by boat from Labuan Bajo.
Park entry is never in the fare: IDR 250,000 for foreign guests per person, IDR 50,000 for Indonesian guests on weekdays.

Day 3 on both boats
On Carnaby 1's published 3D2N, day 3 is Sebayur first and Kanawa second, then the harbour. On Carnaby 2's published 3D2N, day 3 is Sebayur alone before the boat heads back to Labuan Bajo.
Carnaby 1's 2D1N and 4D3N do not list Sebayur. So the stop belongs to the 3D2N on both boats, and the order on the day is the captain's. Carnaby 1 adds Kanawa after it, and Carnaby 2 goes straight home.
Beach time for friends
The current is mild and the depth modest, so a mixed group swims together. Friends who want to sit on the sand do that, and friends who want to snorkel do that. Life jackets are on board for anyone who wants one.
This is the morning after the long day 2. A birthday group with sore legs from Padar will appreciate a stop with no climb. Bring a hat and reef-safe sunscreen, and keep a dry shirt for the boat ride back. A lie-in on the sundeck is part of the plan.
The way back to Labuan Bajo
The return time is confirmed in writing with your booking, so flights home should be booked with that time in mind. The 3D2N page shows day 3 in order.
Pickup in Labuan Bajo at the start and the return at the end are both part of the booking, and the time is confirmed with you, not announced on the day. The comparison page compares the two boats, and the charter page prices a whole-boat group.
FAQ
Is Sebayur on every route?
No. It is on day 3 of the published 3D2N on both Carnaby boats. Carnaby 1's published 2D1N and 4D3N do not list it, and for Carnaby 2's other routes the stops are agreed with you before you pay.
Is there a beach dinner at Sebayur?
Neither Carnaby boat lists a beach dinner. Dinner is served on board as one of the daily meals, and a dinner on an island or a seafood dinner is a service we arrange, quoted separately by headcount and place.
How far is Sebayur from the harbour?
Roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by boat from Labuan Bajo. The captain sets the departure and the route on the day with the weather and the tide in mind, and the return time to the harbour is confirmed with your booking.
Can we swim there?
Yes. The current is mild and depths run from 2 to 10 m, so most swimmers manage it. Snorkelling gear and life jackets are on board on both boats, and nobody has to snorkel. Allow 45 to 90 minutes for the stop.
