Three generations, one deck

Some paths are steep or loose, and the ranger decides how long a trek runs. Older guests can skip the Padar climb and the Komodo walk. Nobody misses the sundeck or the table on deck.

That's the point of a private boat. Nobody's watching a departure time, so grandparents can swim in the morning, join a short walk and be at the deck table when the others come back. For the whole trip, the boat is the family's.

Everyone gets the same briefing at the start, and the captain plans each day around your group.

Who does the climb and who stays on deck

Kelor is a short, steep hill of 15 to 30 minutes with a bay view at the top. Padar takes 25 to 45 minutes to the main viewpoint, and the ridge above it takes longer; stopping at the main viewpoint is a full visit. Komodo is a walk with a ranger, and the trails run from 45 to 120 minutes, with the shorter ones chosen for most groups.

All three need sturdy closed shoes. A family of 18 spreads out quickly, so agree a meeting point before anyone sets off. The Padar page and the Komodo page have the details.

Who sleeps in which cabin, three generations

Carnaby 1's Sharing Cabin sleeps four on two double beds, which suits parents with two children. Carnaby 2's Family Cabin takes 2 to 3 guests on a double bed and a single bed. The quote states the cabin plan.

The cabins sit on three decks: upper, main and lower. Tell us in your first message who struggles with stairs, and we confirm where they sleep. Cabin by cabin: Carnaby 1 cabins and Carnaby 2 cabins.

Run of show for a reunion

Day 1 is gentle on purpose: Kelor, a first swim at Manjarite, then the family dinner on deck after Kalong. Day 2 is the long one, and the family drops whatever it doesn't fancy.

For longer together, add a fourth day. Carnaby 1's 4D3N for 11 to 14 guests is IDR 95,000,000 (≈ USD 5,828), against IDR 75,000,000 (≈ USD 4,601) for 3D2N. The 4D3N page lists the stops.

Guests flying in from several cities

The organiser's note: give everyone the same arrival day, and make it the day before sailing. Labuan Bajo is reached by domestic flight, mostly via Bali, Jakarta or Surabaya, so connections decide the day. The flights page covers flights and the hotels page lists hotels for a group.

Pickup in Labuan Bajo from the airport, a hotel or the harbour is part of the booking, and the time and the meeting point are confirmed in writing. A Toyota HiAce seats up to 12, so a family of 18 needs a second vehicle or a larger coach on request.

FAQ

Can children and grandparents join a celebration trip?

Yes. Children under 3 travel free with a parent or guardian, and a private charter is priced per boat. The Padar and Komodo walks are optional, and older guests can stay on the boat. The sundeck, the cabins and the deck table are shared by every generation.

Is Padar too hard for older relatives?

It is a 25 to 45 minute climb to the main viewpoint on a steep, loose path, and sturdy shoes matter. It is optional, and the viewpoint can be a stop partway. Relatives who skip it keep the morning on the boat.

What life jackets are on board for children?

Both boats list life jackets only: Carnaby 1 lists 20, Carnaby 2 lists life jackets without a count. Give us the ages and we confirm what is on board before you pay.

Is a 4-day trip too long for a reunion?

It suits a family that flies in from far. Carnaby 1's 4D3N for 11 to 14 guests is IDR 95,000,000 (≈ USD 5,828), and its 3D2N is IDR 75,000,000 (≈ USD 4,601). The fourth day is Kanawa, a shallow, easy swim before the harbour.

How do we book cabins for 18 relatives?

Eighteen relatives book Carnaby 2 as one party, with ten cabins of which nine sleep 2 and the Family Cabin sleeps 2 to 3. Send names, ages and pairings; we answer with a cabin plan before the deposit.

Do children pay full price?

Children under 3 travel free with a parent or guardian; from that age a child counts as a guest. A private charter is priced per boat by group size, so the child raises the headcount that sets the band. The written quote states the count.
