What a private charter includes: the rate, the extras and the requests

A Carnaby private charter includes the boat, crew, harbour transfer, three daily meals, coffee, tea and water, snacks and fruit, towels, life jackets and snorkelling gear. Park fees, flights, hotel, insurance, gratuities and alcohol are extra, and the guide and documentation are available on request, quoted separately.
In the rate: what the boats publish
Both boats have the same core list for a private charter. It covers the harbour transfer, the full boat facility, a friendly crew and three daily meals. It also covers free-flow coffee, tea and mineral water, snacks and fruit, a towel, life jackets and snorkelling gear. Every cabin is air-conditioned with an en-suite bathroom.
The boat facility is where the two differ most. Both have an outdoor dining table or area, an indoor lounge with a TV and karaoke, a sundeck with sun beds and bean bags, a jacuzzi and BBQ equipment. Carnaby 2 also lists a paddleboard and a transparent canoe, and Carnaby 1 has none.
Where the boats differ, we name the boat. Carnaby 2 lists a cruise director in the crew; Carnaby 1 lists none. Carnaby 1 lists 15 snorkel sets and 20 life jackets for up to 14 guests, and Carnaby 2 lists snorkelling equipment and life jackets without a count.
A private charter is priced per boat by group size, not per person. Carnaby 1 for 7 to 10 guests is IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479) for 3D2N, and Carnaby 2 for 13 to 16 guests is IDR 129,000,000 (≈ USD 7,914).

Outside the rate: what you pay on top
The rate leaves out flights and airport tax, a hotel before or after, entrance fees, the national park drone usage fee, travel insurance, crew gratuities and alcoholic beverages. Carnaby 2 also lists excess baggage, passports, visas and personal expenses.
Komodo National Park tickets and ranger fees are never part of the fare. The entry ticket is IDR 250,000 for foreign guests, IDR 50,000 for Indonesian guests on weekdays and IDR 75,000 at weekends, per person. The national park drone usage fee is also extra.
Travel insurance is recommended for every guest, and dive insurance is mandatory for scuba divers. Gratuities for the crew are paid by you, and nobody adds them to the quote.
Anything not listed is excluded, in its words. If a service is not on this page, ask before you assume it is in the rate.
On request: guide, documentation, cake, decoration, photographer
On a private charter the guide and the photo and video documentation are not included; both are available on request and quoted separately.
Decoration, a special dinner and a photographer or drone flight are services we arrange, quoted separately, and a park permit is required for the drone. A cake, flowers and a musician are not on that list; they can be arranged on request and are quoted separately, in writing.
None of these is hidden in the fare, and none is added without a written quote. A group of 14 on Carnaby 1 and a group of 21 on Carnaby 2 get the same treatment: the item, the figure and the date. Ask for what you want in the first message, and the quote shows a figure next to each item. The services page lists the options.
Open trip versus private charter
On an open trip the tour guide and the documentation (camera, GoPro, drone) are included. On a private charter they are not. That is the one difference in the published inclusions, and it is why an open-trip seat and a whole-boat rate cannot be compared line by line.
Open-trip guests share the boat with other parties, while a private charter gives your group every cabin. For a celebration the second is the point, and the guide is the price of that privacy: you can ask for one on request.
An open trip is priced per person by cabin, with a minimum of 2 persons per cabin, on the 3D2N only. A private charter is priced per boat. The open-trip cabins page lists the cabin fares, and the calendar lists the dates.
Included in the promise: a boat of the same class
If the booked Carnaby cannot sail for a reason beyond our control, we arrange a boat of the same class on the same date at no extra cost. Or we refund you in full within 14 days.
The promise covers the boat, not the weather or the stops. Ask for the promise with your quote, and keep that page with the guest list. The captain decides on the day whether a stop is safe, and a changed stop is not a refund event. Read the terms page for the cancellation scale and the booking page for how to book.
FAQ
Are drinks and alcohol included?
Free-flow coffee, tea and mineral water are included, with snacks and fruit. Alcoholic beverages are an excluded item, so they are not in the fare. Whether guests can bring their own on board is confirmed for your boat and date.
Is a guide included?
On a private charter, no: the guide and the photo and video documentation are available on request and quoted separately. On an open trip the tour guide and the documentation are included, and park rangers lead the dragon walks on either.
Are towels provided?
Yes. A towel is part of the inclusions on both Carnaby boats, so guests do not need to pack one for the cabin. Bring a second towel for the beach stops if you want one to leave on the sand while you snorkel.
Is the harbour transfer included?
Yes. The harbour transfer is part of the private charter, and pickup in Labuan Bajo from the airport, a hotel or the harbour is part of the booking. The time and the meeting point are confirmed with your booking.
