Komodo open trip cabin types and prices: a seat is booked by cabin, per person, for 3D2N, with a minimum of 2 per cabin, and the guide and documentation are included. Carnaby 1 seats run IDR 4,500,000 (≈ USD 276) to IDR 8,000,000 (≈ USD 491); Carnaby 2 seats IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) to IDR 9,500,000 (≈ USD 583).
Between them, the two boats have sixteen cabins in nine types. Carnaby 1 offers four of them: Master, Deluxe, Superior and Sharing. Carnaby 2 offers five: Master, Suite, Deluxe, Superior and Family.
The types don't line up neatly. Carnaby 1's Master, on the upper deck, is the only cabin on that boat with a balcony. On Carnaby 2 the Master and the Suite each come with a balcony and a bathtub, and there are two of each. Carnaby 1 has a four-guest Sharing Cabin that Carnaby 2 has no match for, while Carnaby 2 has a Family Cabin for 2 to 3 guests that Carnaby 1 lacks.
The cards below give each boat's cabins with the deck, the beds and the capacity, exactly as the boats publish them.

With a minimum of 2 per cabin, someone travelling alone pays for the second seat as well. There's no single-seat price.
Who pays for what. Included: the boat, crew, meals, the tour guide and the documentation. Paid by you: park fees, flights, hotel, insurance, gratuities and alcohol.

On Carnaby 1 the Master Cabin is the only balcony: upper deck, ocean view, a double bed with an extra bed, 2 to 3 guests, en-suite bathroom. On Carnaby 2 the two Masters, Bira and Tanaberu, sit on the upper deck, and the two Suites, Takalar and Bantaeng, on the main deck. All four have an ocean view and a private balcony with a bathtub. So four of the ten cabins have a balcony.
The Deluxe cabins on both boats have an ocean view but no balcony. If one person is the reason for the trip, give them the balcony seat. Everyone else takes a Deluxe or a Superior and sees the same anchorages from the deck.

Eight friends on Carnaby 1 can fill the Sharing Cabin with four and the two Superior cabins with the other four. At the published seat fares that is 4 × IDR 4,500,000 (≈ USD 276) plus 4 × IDR 6,250,000 (≈ USD 383). The whole of Carnaby 1 for eight guests is IDR 73,000,000 (≈ USD 4,479). In total, the seats come to less than the boat.
Ten friends on Carnaby 2 need five cabins: the four Superiors for eight guests and the Family Cabin for two. That is 8 × IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) plus 2 × IDR 6,750,000 (≈ USD 414), against IDR 118,000,000 (≈ USD 7,239) for the whole boat.
Both sums are arithmetic, not advice. On an open trip you share the boat with strangers and sail on a listed date, and you can't keep a surprise from people outside your group. A whole boat gets round all of that. We don't call either option a saving.
Couples take double cabins; everyone else needs a plan. Carnaby 1's Sharing Cabin holds 4 on two double beds. Carnaby 2's Family Cabin holds 2 to 3 on a double bed and a single.
Odd numbers are easier than they look. Seven friends on Carnaby 1 can take three in the Master Cabin, the third on the extra bed at IDR 4,000,000 (≈ USD 245) per person, then two in a Deluxe and two in a Superior. Five friends on Carnaby 2 take two double cabins plus the Family Cabin for one, paying the minimum of 2 for it.
Decide who sleeps where before you pay the deposit, and tell us in the first message which pairs want an ocean view. Superior cabins have none.
Children under 3 travel free with a parent or guardian. From 3 a child takes a seat at the full fare for the cabin.
On Carnaby 1 an open trip can add a third guest to the Master Cabin on the extra bed, at IDR 4,000,000 (≈ USD 245) per person.

Yes. On an open trip the tour guide and the documentation are included. On a private charter the guide is not included, so a group comparing the two should add it to the charter side.
Four cabins means at least 8 seats, because each cabin has a minimum of 2 persons. Six friends fill three double cabins. Six also fits the 1 to 6 band of a whole-boat charter on Carnaby 1, IDR 70,000,000 (≈ USD 4,294) for 3D2N.
If the booked Carnaby cannot sail for a reason beyond our control, we arrange a boat of the same class on the same date at no extra cost, or refund you in full within 14 days. A seat on an open trip follows the same promise.
Children under 3 travel free with a parent or guardian. From 3 the child pays the fare of the cabin they sleep in, per person, for the same 3D2N trip.
