Carnaby 2 cabin by cabin: what to check on a Komodo phinisi before booking

Updated 26 October 2026

Carnaby 2 has 10 air-conditioned en-suite cabins on three decks and room for up to 21 guests. The beds add up to 20 or 21, and four points are checked with you before you pay.

The ten cabins at a glance

Carnaby 2 is 32 m long and 6.5 m wide, with a Mitsubishi 8DC11 engine and a cruising speed of 6 to 10 knots. Three decks hold ten cabins: two Master, two Suites, one Deluxe, four Superior and one Family cabin.

This guide goes cabin by cabin, using the specification and the 36 photos of the boat. Each cabin has what it offers, what the photos show and what to ask before you pay. Open points are collected at the end and confirmed before the deposit.

Upper deck: Bira, Tanaberu and Bulukumba

Bira and Tanaberu are the two Master cabins. Each has an ocean view, a double bed, a private balcony with a bathtub, an en-suite bathroom with a hot and cold shower, and air conditioning, for 2 guests each.

Five photos show a Master cabin: two of the bedroom, with a carved wooden headboard, white bedding, a dressing table and blue cushions, and three of a bathtub beside an open window. The photos carry rose petals and glassware. That staging is not included; decoration is on request, quoted separately.

The tub sits beside an open window, with the anchorage behind it.

Bulukumba is the one Deluxe cabin, also upper deck, for 2 guests. The photos show a double bed, a green marble desk, a carved headboard with blue and orange cushions, and a mirrored vanity. The bathroom shot has a rain shower, a toilet and a basin. It has no balcony and no bathtub.

Main deck: Takalar and Bantaeng

The two Suites sit on the main deck and share the Master's published features: double bed, ocean view, private balcony with a bathtub, en-suite, hot and cold shower, air conditioning, 2 guests each.

One photo shows a Suite bedroom. It shows a bed with a batik runner next to a window that opens onto a tub nook. The other four Suite photos are bathrooms: a tub with a harbour view beyond the railing, and a bathroom with a vessel basin, a toilet and a green stone wall.

Ask us for more photos of the Suite bedroom and balcony before you choose it for the couples in your group.

Lower deck: four Superior cabins and the Family cabin

Gowa and Maros, Sinjai and Bone are the four Superior cabins. Each has a double bed, an en-suite bathroom with a hot and cold shower and air conditioning, for 2 guests. They have no balcony and no bathtub.

The Superior photos come from Gowa: a bed under a teak ceiling with a patterned door that leads to the shower. A bathroom photo shows a green tiled wall, a rain shower and a toilet. Sinjai and Bone have no photos yet; the cabins match Gowa on the specification.

Wajo is the Family cabin: a double bed and a single bed, for 2 or 3 guests. The two photos show wood-panelled walls and porthole windows, and a single bed with a batik runner under a porthole. A porthole is a small round window, so it's worth asking how much daylight the cabin gets.

If your friends want matching rooms, note that the lower deck is where the portholes are, and where the four Superiors sit side by side.

The bed count against 21 guests

Do the sum yourself. Two Master cabins hold 4, two Suites hold 4, the Deluxe holds 2, and the four Superior cabins hold 8. That is 18 beds in nine double cabins. The Family cabin adds 2 or 3, which makes 20 or 21.

The maximum is 21 guests, and that is the figure we publish. The sum fits it, with one condition: the 21st place is only there if the Family cabin sleeps three. Whether the vessel owner counts it that way is confirmed before you pay.

For a group of 18, the nine double cabins hold you exactly. For 21, all ten cabins are in use. The 17 to 21 guest band for 3D2N costs IDR 140,000,000 (≈ USD 8,589) for the boat, which is IDR 6,670,000 (≈ USD 409) per person at 21.

Who pays for what: the fare covers the boat, crew, harbour transfer, meals, coffee, tea and water, snacks and fruit, towels, life jackets and snorkelling gear. You pay the park fees, flights, hotel, insurance and crew gratuities. A guide and documentation on a private charter are on request, quoted separately.

Safety kit and shared spaces

The safety list names life jackets, life buoys, a life raft, fire extinguishers, CCTV monitoring, GPS navigation, a marine radio and an HF radio with a distress signal. A speed boat serves as the tender for transfers and island trips.

The list gives no counts, unlike Carnaby 1's. For 21 guests plus crew, we confirm the life jacket count and the raft capacity before you book.

The shared spaces, as listed and as photographed, are an outdoor dining table under a canopy with white linen and an indoor lounge with an L-shaped sofa, TV and karaoke. Add a sundeck with sun beds and bean bags, a jacuzzi on deck and an aft lounge with a covered daybed.

Also on board: a paddleboard, a transparent canoe, snorkelling equipment and BBQ equipment.

The facility list includes Wi-Fi onboard (Starlink). Coverage at sea and speed are not stated, so we make no promise on either.

Plan standing room for a group toast until we confirm the seating.

Four answers to get before you pay

These are the points to pin down first, in this order:

  • Does the maximum of 21 count the Family cabin's single bed?
  • How many life jackets are on board, and what is the capacity of the life raft?
  • Is a first-aid kit carried? It is not in the list.
  • What do Sinjai and Bone look like, and what are the cabin and bed sizes?

For a party, also ask about the deck seat counts and whether a cake or a guest's speaker can come aboard. One message to us covers all of it.
